Carlton utility Andrew Walker is expected to announce his retirement later this morning after a chronic knee injury has plagued the latter part of his career.

Walker, 30, has played 201 games for the Blues, kicking 139 goals, which 56 of them came in arguably his best season in 2011.

After a spell in defence under Mick Malthouse, Walker has managed just 46 goals since the 2011 season.

He had one of the best debuts in AFL history, where he collected 26 disposals, and had two goal assists when he played West Coast at the old Optus Oval in 2004.
